Here are some of our favorite museum tours you can experience on your trip.

Kentucky Historical Society

Address: 100 W Broadway St, Frankfort, KY

Tues - Wed: 10AM - 5PM

Thurs - Fri: 9AM - 5PM

Sat: 10AM - 5PM

Closed Sunday and Monday


When you’re looking for a historical tour, what better place to start than at a historical society? This organization holds group tours at an incredibly affordable price ($6 a person). 


With this ticket, you’ll be able to explore the Kentucky History Center, the Old State Capitol, the Hall of Governors, and the Kentucky Military History Museum—and they are AWESOME tours.

Kentucky Old Governor's Mansion

Address: 420 High St, Frankfort, KY


This redbrick building in downtown Frankfort may not seem like much at first, but it’s actually one of the oldest residences of political figures in Kentucky. This wheelchair-accessible tour will show you Federal-style architecture and a peek into the former statesmans' lives.


Parking is conveniently located on Clinton Street across from the garden.

Capital City Museum

Kentucky culture is one of the best, and nowhere will you be able to see more of the state’s personality than at the Capital City Museum. You’ll experience everything from classic 50s restaurants to the assassination of a Kentucky senator.


Fishermen may find the fishing reel showcase extremely interesting.

Berry Hill Mansion

Closed Saturday and Sunday


Constructed in 1900, the Berry Hill Mansion features ornate decor in the Colonial Revival style. You’ll have a shot to explore over 22 different rooms.


Our favorite is the marvelous music room built in the Gothic Revival style, but you may find a favorite of your own.

Liberty Hall Historic Site

Want a blend of nature and history? At the Liberty Hall site, you can wander the gardens with your family, and follow it up with a tour of the two Kentucky homes built in the early 1800s.


On top of learning about the owners of the homes, you’ll learn about the slaves who made the lavish lifestyle possible.

One of Kentucky’s biggest claims to fame is its bourbon, and the Buffalo Trace Distillery stands as a historical icon in the drink’s history. Tour this distillery and many others by driving the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. Learn more here!

Kentucky State Capitol Museum

If you want a chance to tour one of the most opulent buildings in Frankfort, the Kentucky State Capitol is a gorgeous place to stop downtown. Inside is a museum displaying Kentucky’s political history and most renowned public figures.
